Our gingerbread house this year was an all-hands on deck family time. Laughter, joking, frosting in the hair – it was all good.
It wasn’t always like this though. Before I wised up, the girls and I (Jon was smart enough to not enter the kitchen) would begin making a gingerbread house by baking the walls and roof from scratch. As they were little and this project is time consuming, it would inevitably end with someone having a temper tantrum on the floor. Sometimes that was me. This was before we even got to decorating. By decorating time, few of us had the perseverance to continue with any sort of light heart.
Now I buy the shell. Not that I can’t make it, but we aren’t going for any contests here, we are going for fun. Mission accomplished. Here’s what we came up with this year:
Front door – happiness is a colorful home!
Top down view – trees in the back, dog house with bones in the yard on the right next to the bushes covered in snow and on the left the snow man with foot prints all around.
Mr. Gingerbread Man
Gumdrop snowman with chocolate hat and arms.
Annie
For fun over pretty much anything pretty much any day.
